Arianna Carossa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">An interesting perspective on the exhibition on <a title=\"balthus at the Met\" href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/listings\/2013\/balthus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Balthus<\/a> now at the Met (until January 12, 2014) is given by the New York based artist <a title=\"arianna carossa\" href=\"http:\/\/theartpriest.com\/?i=523aa8fa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arianna Carossa<\/a>, who last week visited the show for cfa. Arianna links Balthus to the French poet Francis Ponge and his way to understanding reality. Ponge was indeed able to see beyond the object and grasp its \u201cintelligence\u201d. In the same way, as Arianna points out, the works by Balthus turn from being the objects of the show to being its actual subjects. \u201cWhile walking around the rooms &#8211; she notices &#8211; I had the feelings that the paintings were looking at me. I was perceiving their strength. I told myself that it wasn&#8217;t the painting itself that actually created Balthus but viceversa\u201d. If art that talks about other art is most of the time an art loss, we wouldn&#8217;t say the same about artists who&nbsp;talk about other artists&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Les arbres se d\u00e9font \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur d&#8217;une sph\u00e8re de brouillard<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Dans le brouillard qui entoure les arbres, les feuilles leur sont<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">d\u00e9rob\u00e9es; qui d\u00e9j\u00e0, d\u00e9contenanc\u00e9es par une lente oxydation,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">et mortifi\u00e9es par le retrait de la s\u00e8ve au profit<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">des fleurs e fruits, depuis les grosses chaleurs d\u2019ao\u00fbt<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">tenaient moins \u00e0 eux.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Dans l\u2019\u00e9corce des rigoles verticales se creusent par<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">o\u00f9 l\u2019humidit\u00e9 jusqu\u2019au sol est conduite \u00e0 se d\u00e9sint\u00e9resser des<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">parties vives du tronc.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Les fleurs sont dispers\u00e9es, le fruits sont d\u00e9pos\u00e9s.
