The twit was illustrated by a detail from The garden of Earthly Delights, by Hyeronimous Bosh (Prado, Madrid): a group of naked human beings gathered around an enormous red and hairy fruit.<\/p>\n<p>Of course Saltz is wrong, but consciously wrong, as he generally is. The paintings by Murillo and Smith, which he was cunningly promoting by the way, will go under the hammer next week. They are nothing less than beautiful, that is to say eye pleasing, conservative, easy, simple. Their good aestethics is a matter of fact, scientifically proved by Ramachandran&#8217;s ten figural primitives. For example, \u201cRepetition\u201d is the key to apply to Smith&#8217;s rain paintings \u2013 three at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillips.com\/Search?Search=lucien+smith&amp;sbmt=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phillips&#8217;<\/a>, three at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sothebys.com\/en\/search.html?keywords=Lucien+Smith#keywords=Lucien Smith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sotheby&#8217;s<\/a> and one at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christies.com\/lotfinder\/searchresults.aspx?entry=Lucien+Smith&amp;action=search&amp;searchtype=u&amp;searchFrom=header&amp;searchSubmit=Search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christie&#8217;s<\/a>; while a mix of \u201cPeak Shift\u201d and \u201cContrast\u201d could easily explain the effect that Murillo&#8217;s works \u2013 two at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phillips.com\/Search?Search=Oscar+Murillo&amp;sbmt=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phillips&#8217;<\/a>, one at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sothebys.com\/en\/search.html?keywords=Oscar+Murillo#keywords=Oscar Murillo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sotheby&#8217;s<\/a> and no less than four at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christies.com\/lotfinder\/searchresults.aspx?entry=Oscar+Murillo&amp;action=search&amp;searchtype=u&amp;searchFrom=header&amp;searchSubmit=Search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christie&#8217;s<\/a> have on our perception.<\/p>\n<p>So the real problem with these two emerged-market-champions-artists is not with their aesthetics, just like the problem with junk food is not its taste. Have you carefully read the ingredients before buying them? Are they healthy as well as being tasty?
