The beautiful rendez-vous between Sophie Marceau, the Grande Odalisque and the talented daughter of Jane Birkin at the brand-new Galerie Cinéma
- Kate Barry, Sophie Marceau, 2002
The intensity of this photograph lies in the perfect combination of these two beauties that somehow seem to complement each other. In a snapshot, photographer Kate Barry was able to capture the appeal of the actress Sophie Marceu and, at the same time, to revive the mystery of the Grande Odalisque.
The painting isn’t simply hanging in the background so to fill the set. It actively interacts with the environment in which the actress is posing. Both the females stare at the viewer, who gets lost in time. Barry, drawing inspiration from the painting, which can be admired at the Louvre, brilliantly managed to create a work of art.
Galerie Cinéma, recently opened by the producer Anne-Dominique Toussaint. Her exhibition «Point of View – portrait/natures mortes» will run until November 20th, 2013. This space, dedicated to the “septième art”, aims at representing the universe of cinema through the various medium of art. We certainly look forward to seeing what will be on next!
