Italy, good luck
- Giuseppe Garibaldi, private collection.
Today the Italian Senate will discuss if, after having been condammed for fiscal fraude, Silvio Berlusconi will have the right to be a senator again. The verdict is unpredictable at the moment, but it is evident that the problem is bigger and wider than it seems. What we know is that the forces that are driving the mass media in Italy prevent citizens to have trustable information, and the image they give of the country is a wery distorted one, at any level. So we are publishing this sweet portrait of Giuseppe Garibaldi, now preserved at Palazzo Cusani, in Milan, to remind that propaganda has always described this soldier as the perfect hero, especially after the unification of Italy. But he was a soldier, not an angel.
