Summer 2013: the Capanna Mollino is closed and not well kept
The architect, photographer and race cars driver Carlo Mollino designed this uncommon mountain building in 1946. It was finished by the following year, although the interiors have never been completed. Originally conceived as an arrival station for the sleds by which people used to reach the mount Triplex ski fields, in 1964 it was turned into a skilift station. A few years after it was abandoned. Wooden interiors were burned, the outdoor stair turned into a ramp for motorbikes, the roof was an occasional observatory. At the end of the ninties a long restoration process begun, and was completed in 2005. But now, in summertime 2013, if an hiker, architecture eager, o man of good taste goes there, he will find the Capanna Mollino closed and not well kept. What a shame.
